5 Steps to Gain Your CPC
Step 1
Call us to book your LGV training course, and we will send you your D2/D4 forms by post so that you can apply to the DVLA for your provisional LGV entitlement. We will also answer any questions you may have about your LGV course/test, driver CPC, the transport industry in general or employment opportunities.
Step 2
The second step when you have received your D2/D4 forms by post is to attend your medical test, which we will arrange for you at your earliest convenience. For this you will need to take form D4 to the medical practitioner who will carry out your medical test, and who will also complete form D4 for you. When you have completed your medical test you will then need to send your completed D2 and D4 forms by post to the DVLA, to apply for your provisional LGV entitlement to be added to your driving licence.
This stage of the process usually takes approximately 3 weeks for your licence to be returned with your LGV provisional entitlement added.
We are here to help if you need any help in completing your D2 application!
Step 3
Step three is for us to assign you your log in credentials to our online theory test preparation software, which will allow you to start practicing for your LGV theory test!
You do not need to wait until you have completed your medical test and applied for your LGV provisional entitlement, in order to start revising for your LGV theory test. We can assign you your log in credentials on the day that you book your course with us, allowing you to start revising immediately!
The LGV theory test consists of 2 parts: a multi-choice theory test, and a hazard perception test. If you will need to complete your initial driver CPC training and tests, then you will also need to pass module 2 of the initial CPC qualification at this stage.
Step 4
Step four is to start your practical LGV training. This is the most exciting part of the process where you get behind the wheel of a heavy goods vehicle, and will give you a big insight in to the new career you have chosen!
Guided by our expert instructors with years of experience in the driver training industry, we will guide you through your training course enabling you to fully familiarize with driving an LGV in a range of different road and traffic conditions.
We will provide you with feedback and support throughout your training, as you aim to reach the test standard and pass your LGV test.
Step 5
The final step is to complete your module 4 training and test in order to acquire your Driver Qualification Card, and start work in your chosen career!
It may be that you have an exemption from Driver CPC, and therefore as soon as you have passed your LGV test you will be able to seek employment or work immediately, using your newly acquired LGV skills.
